ESG Manager

Summary

  • The ESG Manager will be responsible for monitoring and advising on environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities related to business activities, ensuring compliance and fostering continuous improvement.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, sustainability, business administration, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years professional experience in roles related to ESG issues, including developing and implementing sustainability strategies and initiatives.
  • Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks and standards.
  • Understanding of the industry-specific challenges and opportunities related to ESG in the oil & gas and/or renewable sector.
  • Knowledge of local, national, and international environmental regulations and standards.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and implement ESG-related projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, presenting to stakeholders, and conducting employee training.
  • Ability to analyze ESG data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations for improvement.
  • Experience in engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, regulatory bodies, and communities.
  • Willing to travel frequently, including within Malaysia, Singapore, Middle East and Mexico.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and various levels of management.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

    • Leading projects for decarbonization, aiming for carbon neutrality/net zero.
    • Conducting research and coordinating activities on carbon trading.
    • Compiling regulatory reports and environmental data.
    • Organizing and conducting staff training on ESG.
  • Designing and implementing sustainability initiatives aligned with organizational goals and industry standards, including targets for carbon footprint reduction, waste management, and renewable energy adoption.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards, preparing sustainability performance reports.
  • Educating and engaging employees on sustainability practices through training programs and workshops.
  • Evaluating and improving the efficacy of sustainability programs.
  • Developing and maintaining documentation and records.
  • Forming and maintaining an ESG team/committee.
  • Developing and implementing ESG strategies and programs.
  • Attending meetings and reporting on ESG progress to management, shareholders, and the Board of Directors.
  • Analyzing and reviewing ESG data to identify trends and risks.
  • Preparing reports and documents to communicate the company's ESG progress and performance.
  • Managing communication with stakeholders on ESG issues.
  • Drafting legal and contractual documents for ESG activities.
  • Monitoring and ensuring timely execution of ESG initiatives and commitments.
  • Developing and communicating ESG practices and policies to ensure compliance.
  • Conducting market research and competitive analysis on ESG factors.
  • Managing ESG budgets, resources, and related expenses.
  • Participating in ESG-related conferences and events.
  • Leading external ESG reporting and disclosure activities.
  • Preparing responses to ESG information requests from external stakeholders.
  • Identifying, advising on, and implementing new ESG reporting and disclosure practices.
  • Managing the annual ESG Report preparation, ensuring alignment with disclosure requirements and best practices.
  • Overseeing responses to inquiries from ESG rating agencies and other organizations.
  • Managing internal and external ESG information requests, ensuring quality and meeting deadlines.
  • Serving as the point of contact for internal inquiries regarding ESG performance data.
  • Continuously improving ESG reporting processes and internal control environment.
  • Influencing stakeholders across the organization to achieve ESG reporting goals.
  • Collaborating with key internal leaders, data owners, and assurance providers to maintain standardized internal reporting processes.
  • Ensuring Standard Operation Procedures and documentation supporting ESG reporting are in place and maintained.
  • Creating internal alignment and awareness regarding annual reports and reporting requirements.
  • Providing foresight and advising on necessary actions related to new ESG reporting trends and requirements.
  • Leading or supporting projects to improve ESG reporting and disclosure.
  • Managing parallel priorities and complex projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Building relations with key internal stakeholders to progress the ESG reporting agenda.
  • Collaborating, supporting, and sharing knowledge with team members to achieve ESG team priorities.

Requirements/Knowledge/Compentencies

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Skills
  • English & Bahasa Melayu Written and Verbal Skills
  • Relevant certifications, such as the CSR (Certified Sustainability Reporting) or other industry-specific certifications, can be beneficial.
