Site Electrical Inspector

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Report to the Technical Manager.
  • Acting as Company’s Owner Representative.
  • Proactively conduct inspections of electrical systems on Diesel-Electric propulsion vessels to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and project specifications.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement inspection plans, schedules, and procedures specific to Diesel-Electric propulsion systems.
  • Perform detailed inspections of electrical components, wiring, and control systems related to Diesel-Electric propulsion vessels.
  • Witness testing and verification of electrical systems, focusing on the integration and performance of Diesel-Electric propulsion systems.
  • Review E&I engineering drawings submitted by the construction yards or the design house.
  • Prepare comprehensive inspection reports detailing findings, recommendations, and corrective actions related to Diesel-Electric propulsion systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspection results, reports, and relevant project records. Compliance with Company’s document control process.
  • Participate in harbour and acceptance sea trials to assess the performance, efficiency, and reliability of Diesel-Electric propulsion systems.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations during all electrical inspections on Diesel-Electric vessels.
  • Observe and report on safety related issues at site including immediate stop work for unsafe situation.

Requirements/Knowledge/Competencies

  • Experience: 8-10 years of relevant experience in electrical inspection with a focus on Diesel-Electric propulsion vessels.
  • Education: Technical Diploma or Graduate Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Skills: Proficient in MS Office applications; Familiarity with electrical design software is a plus.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in electrical inspection and testing, with a specific emphasis on Diesel-Electric propulsion systems.
  • Communication: Good communicating skills as it is required to communicate with various parties.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify issues, analyze data, and propose effective solutions for electrical systems, particularly Diesel-Electric propulsion systems.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work with various parties including onboard marine operation crews.
  • Adaptability: Flexible working attitude and ability to adapt to changing project requirements and environments.
